I recently acquired this matching '15 Spandau action which I believe is a sniper, due to the bent bolt and d+t pattern on the rear bridge which matches claw mounts of the period. However the pattern on the ring is a mystery. Anyone happen to be able to identify it?

Has anyone seen that thread on G.B.? Guy 1 picks up stock to restore a doinked 42byf, thinks it might have a sniper buttplate. Guy 2 posts HT he bought in a sporter stock. Rifle is numbers matching to guy 1's stock. Amazing!
