    Danzig 71/84

I acquired this from a local auction who specializes more in antiques and artwork. This one was mixed in and went cheaply. I was told this one sat in a closet for many years and it certainly appears that way. All matching inside and out. Buttplate bears a 50th Infantry regiment replacement...

Reichswehr Unit marked 1916 Erfurt Kar98a

A recent & interesting pickup. Both the buttplate and disc are marked to the 14th Reiter Regiment. Stock has the serial, an Imperial marking on underside of butt, a 1920 stamp on left side of butt and finally an “S” on right side near disc. No wrist markings unusually. Also worth noting its...

    “BS” marked 1918 Danzig Kar98a

I’ve had this one for about a year and figured I’d post. All matching as reworked with the bolt being a period renumbered Erfurt replacement. The bottom metal and buttplate are X’d out matching as seems consistent with other BS examples. Receiver has the enigmatic intertwined BS stamp and a 1920...

    WMO 71-84

I acquired this one today from IMA. When their email list dropped and I saw this one I couldn’t buy it fast enough. I’ve personally seen three of these for sale period in the US counting this one. The three or four folks who collect 71-84s understand how rare WMO made rifles are. While Spandau...

    Etched renumbered bolt question.

I picked up a 337 code 98k from Empire recently. Bolt has an added etched number on the handle w/o a suffix and on the handle only and this number of course matches the receiver. I am curious if this is post war done (Whether done by a foreign country or bubba) or perhaps wartime done by a...

Koln & Kustrin Reworked 1907 DWM Gew 98

Picked this one up from a well known dealer at a very fair price. This rifle is interesting to me as it’s been through two depots (Kustrin “2” cancelled out and later Koln “4”). Due to the first depots location I have to wonder if this one spent time on the Eastern Front. The rifle has a...

    CG Haenel Kar71

I picked this up earlier in the week. Rear portion of bolt (Safety, striker and cocking piece) are mismatch but other parts are matching. Receiver has an 1877 mfg. date but no issue date or unit markings are present. Tang screw is tight and I am unable to get it out of the wood to check the...

    Late CHDA Banner K

Acquired this from a good friend. Matching less the cleaning rod. I understand they made about 10,000 of these and this one falls at the very end of the serial range. This one shows use I presume from training by the SA. Is it known (beyond training of course) if these saw any further use...

    10th Mountain Bringback DUV44 G43

Acquired this from a very good and generous friend. It’s the second G43 variant I’ve owned. This particular example is an early matching DUV44 with threaded muzzle and is in nice shape. My friend acquired this from the late John Wall who in turn acquired it directly from the 10th Mountain vet...

    1881 Erfurt M71

I picked this 1881 Erfurt 71 off broker recently. All matching with WW1 black painted trigger guard. No bolt head or extractor present as seems typical for WW1 bring back 71 and 88s. No unit markings on buttplate either.

    AX41 D Block

I was quite thrilled to pick this one up the other day. All matching and most of the parts are 280 proofed. Nice bluing and stock stamps. Im not a big fan of the white highlighted numbers but that’s how the rifle came to me. I haven’t seen many ax41 coded rifles around and understand they’re...

    1915 CG Haenel Gew 98

The past couple weeks have been very fruitful for me collecting wise and I am quite grateful. I scored my first ax coded 98k too along with this rifle. I picked this one up today from a very good buddy. As we know any matching 1915 Suhl is a very good find. This one’s all matching down to the...

    1890 Amberg Gew 88

Found this Gew 88 from my favorite national sporting goods store; Cabelas. As we all know G88s close to matching are a pain to find. Left of receiver has the early “G. Mod 88” marking. Bolt head is of the undercut variety and unnumbered. Trigger is numbered “71” possible factory error...

    Koln Depot M91 Mosin

Here’s something a bit different but neat and within the focus of this forum. It’s your standard 1895 Tula Mosin M91 captured by the Germans. The gun passed thru the Koln depot as denoted by the “4” on the buttplate. Buttplate is original matching to the barrel shank too, so that tells me this...

    BS Rework Kar 98A question.

Gun in question is an all matching as-reworked 1918 Danzig 98a. Receiver is BS stamped, whose meaning as I understand it is unknown. There is no BS stamping on the wood anywhere, so I presume it was reworked subsequently. There is a depot stamp that I cant identify on the wrist, I am curious if...

    1917 Saxon Simson Gew 98

I acquired this one yesterday, I’ve been after a Simson Gewehr 98 rifle for 10 years now. They seem very elusive in matching trim. This particular rifle is all factory matching and untouched. It has crude numbering on various parts (note the factory error on the floorplate). The action screws...

1890 Erfurt Gew 88 Koblenz Rework

A recent pickup. Bolt root was ground down and bolt knob renumbered to match. Bands, rear sight, small bolt parts and one action screw are mismatched. Stock is numbered matching externally and internally. Bolt head is missing and firing pin clipped so a WW1 veteran no doubt. This was the last...

1905 DWM Gew 98 Unit Marked

A recent purchase from Legacy. Yet another unit marked Gewehr this time to the 151st Infantry regiment who were part of the 37th Division. The 37th was rated as first class by Allied intelligence. The 37th started the war on the Eastern front fighting in major battles such as Tannenberg & the...

1914 WMO Gew 98 Koln Rework & Saxon unit marked

I picked this one up a while back on Gunbroker. Jordan spotted it and did some research on the unit marking and convinced me to buy it. Thanks Jordan! The gun is mostly matching with the bolt being a Danzig mfg. depot replacement. The bolt knob is renumered to match but the other parts are...

    Decent 1915 WMO Gew 98

Had this one since November but figured it was time to post decent photos of it. All matching down to the rod. In reasonably good shape for a 1915 gun too IMO. The only detractors are a slightly cleaned reciever and an old inventory number stamped on the underside of the butt.
