    Gewehr 98 DWM 1904 399

Most recent find, an early 1904 DWM marked to the 122nd Reserve Infantry. There have been a couple other ‘04 DWMs documented that are marked to Wurttemberg regiments, it’s interesting seeing a trend develop. This one is quite early, 399, and features typical early DWM acceptance throughout. The...

    Seitengewehr 98/05 aA Erfurt W08 6.A.F.8.145.

I’ve been having a lot of luck with Artillery bayonets lately. Here is a matching scabbard W08 Erfurt. No major revelations in terms of acceptance, but good to have another documented example. Marking is 6th foot artillery regiment, 8th battery, 145th weapon. Here is the history of...

    Gewehr 98 WMO 1917 4243n Ex-Scharfschutze

Scored this WMO 1917 ex sniper recently. I’ve been interested in these for some time, glad to finally have one. This one is exceptionally nice, the import marks on the receiver are the only major detraction. It is a straight bolt mismatch, even the rod is factory matching. I assume when the...

WMO 1917 N Block Scharfschutze Research

Taking Paul's advice, i am starting a research thread here for WMO 1917 n block scharfschutze. Here is the original thread: https://www.k98kforum.com/threads/ww1-oberndorf-gew-98-sniper-rifle-research.7081/ Please post any observed examples here and i will add them to this list that Paul...

Cashing in on the Knowledge of Others

This has come up before, but twice recently I’ve noticed that people gather information from knowledgeable contributors on this forum, only to go and use the information to help sell. It’s happened occasionally in the past but seems to be becoming more common. It rubs me the wrong way, to the...

    Gewehr 98 DWM 1901 8253 Kaiserliche Marine

Got this one from Chris who handed it off to me before SoS. It’s been documented here before, but a Gew doesn’t really feel like mine until I I make my own post, haha. Aside from some light cleaning and sanding it’s a nice original example. Has the early features like unproofed receiver, 200m...

Seitengewehr 98/05 alte Art Coppel O11 marked B.2.A.F.2.121.

My Show of Shows find. Early pattern Bavarian 98/05 plainblade marked to foot artillery. It was given a flash guard at one point, and the high ears were not ground down. The scabbard is obviously not the one it entered service with, but is Bavarian so there’s a decent chance it came to the...

Seitengewehr 14 Bayerische Griechischer Messer marked B.11.R.II.R.E.1.408.

Recent pick up. I’ve been quite lucky with Griechischer Messer and was able to add a regimentally marked example. It’s Bavarian infantry marked, while the other two that I have seen were both Bavarian Jäger. Acceptance wise it’s pretty typical, c/K and c/M.

    Gewehr 98 DWM 1917 1062l

Posting this for @Civilwarnut1863 who recently snagged it at auction. Nice example of a DWM 1917, but the bolt is most intriguing. While the striker assembly and collar are original, I suspect the bolt itself is an armorers replacement. I saw this because the number, though matching, is in a...

    Seitengewehr 14 Bayerische Griechischer Messer

Picked up this Bavarian Simson Suhl “Greek knife” bayonet recently. These were so-called because they were originally part of a bayonet order placed at Simson for Greek Schönauer rifles, but the Bavarian government purchased them and had them fitted for the Gewehr 98 in 1914. Sometimes these are...

    Gewehr 98 J. P. Sauer 1916 9319h

My latest find, a 1916 J. P. Sauer. Glad to add this one to the collection, especially after seeing some of the stunning Sauers a few members here have. This came from a collection but luckily nothing obscene had been done to it, only a few more recent scratches probably from being packed in a...

    Hannover Artilleriedepot Gewehre

The German Artillery Depot at Hanover (Hannover in German) became an assembler of rifles during the war. The depot had been equipped to produce ammunition once the war began, and its capabilities grew, likely out of necessity, as the war continued and presented higher need for weapons. Much like...

    Gewehr 98 Danzig 1915 8827h

This Danzig has quite a pedigree: Sam pulled it out of the woodwork but sold it to a mutual friend when he upgraded. The mutual friend then passed it to me. It’s a great warhorse with rust toned metal yet spectacular bluing. The stock wood is very nice overall, with a large shrapnel strike on...

    Gewehr 98 WMO 1917 7409w

Picked this up from Chris, so it may look familiar. Absolute gorgeous stocked bolt and follower mismatched WMO 1917. Seriously, I doubt I’ve seen a nicer stock. Aside from being so crisp, it has a neat dovetail and a c/RC stamp. The keel stamps are silhouettes, which makes me think the RC comes...

    Gewehr 98 Spandau 1915 2367s

Recent pick up from a forum member; thanks @MichaelWC! This 1915 Spandau went through Köln and received a salvaged replacement stock. The stock is overstruck externally and the receiver serial is pencilled in not far from the original in the barrel channel. (The numbered on the metal weren't...

    Gewehr 98 Amberg 1917 2866p

I bought this from Sam last year when he upgraded. I was very glad to get it, I’ve been on a bit of a Bavarian kick lately. This was a dufflecut with a lost fore end. Sam found a walnut good replacement, but I wanted to get a beech one. I decided against trying to find an original stock to...

    Gewehr 98 Danzig 1916 5275a

Was going through the reference and noticed I hadn’t rephotographed this one. This was my first Gew, and for quite a while my nicest Gew. Bolt mismatch that came without a buttplate. Last summer Clay managed to turn up an armorers buttplate, which was awesome, after nearly fifteen years I had...

    Gewehr 98 Spandau 1912 9762 Bond Rifle

Very excited to get this one posted up. The previous owner posted here last month, he had purchased at an estate sale and was looking to move it. We worked out a deal and it arrived earlier this week. I’ve been wanting a good example of a bond rifle for some time. This one is perfect: a rarer...

    Model 1917 Rifle Grenade Schießbecher

This was a recent find, something I had been after for a long time. A Schießbecher cup launcher for the M17 rifle grenade. (I’m not sure the terminology here, Storz mostly discusses the grenade itself, it’s not clear if the cup launcher is also a Modell 1917.) This one was made by D.M.W. and has...

    Gewehr 88 Erfurt 1889 1010

I’ve had this one for quite some time, but wanted to get it out for fresh photos. First year production Erfurt with G. Mod. on the rail. Marked to IR 36. It went through the Königsberg depot according to the buttplate. Other than that it appears all original, including the barrel. Numbers match...
