    Mauser Ammo

That's a shame. The Yugo wasn't bad at all. Just HOW bad is the Persian stuff?

    Mauser Ammo

Not sure if this is the correct area to post this question....so anyway... Anyone have any information about the availability of surplus 8mm Mauser ammunition? Or, have we seen the last of those days forever? I love shooting my Mauser, but have not done so in a while since I don't know when/if...

    100th Anniversary Commemorative 1898 Gewehrs

I assumed import regs would likely nix US sales. Its a shame the quality wasn't up to snuff.

    100th Anniversary Commemorative 1898 Gewehrs

In my research and web surfing, I understand the Mauser company issued 100 1898 100th Anniversary Edition Gewehrs. Just out of curiosity, did anyone on this forum get one of these rare/new Gewehrs? Philip

    1918 DMW Gewehr 98, 1936 Nazi Rework

Thanks for the great info. I worried that my gamble would bite me in the end. I definitely will be more careful in the future. Knowing this, I do not plan on altering the condition in any way. The surface rust here and there is worrisome, however. I would like to obtain an earlier Imperial era...

    1918 DMW Gewehr 98, 1936 Nazi Rework

I just re-uploaded a few more. Recheck the pix. The bands have minor surface rust. The bluing is kinda dull and the DWM Berlin markings aren't that deep. The wrist where the stampings are located is "gummy" looking but not sticky. Is this a normal appearance for a beech stock? Paid 450 for it...

    1918 DMW Gewehr 98, 1936 Nazi Rework

More photos. The bolt pieces have me worried. The new sight has the same serial as the numbers on the rest of the rifle "6210". The extractor ring looks like it was double stamped 57 or 43 or 53 or 47. Odd. The area around the stock stamps next to the screws almost looks gummy or like someone...

    Used 1916 Simson Suhl Gew.98

Why is it that the side of the stock has the little crescent swirley marks? Mine has the exact same swirley pattern as well. Philip Neidlinger

    1918 DMW Gewehr 98, 1936 Nazi Rework

Here are the photos FINALLY for the Gewehr I purchased, almost too hastily, a few months back. It looked like a nice rifle, and hopefully the gut was correct. Only numbers not matching were those on safety, and perhaps bolt shroud. Also included is a photo of the K98K RC I obtained back in...

OT?: Wolff Blitzschell Springs K98K/1918 Gewehr Nazi rework

I had fail to fire issues on both my K98K and 1918 Gewehr. I replaced the striker springs in both rifles at the spec'd pound ratings; ie no higher than what the manufacturer requires. I was amazed at the length differences between the old and new springs, and how much hard it was to break down...

Range Test, 1918 DWM Mauser/1936 RW

It has a k98 style sight, 1936 Nazi rework, 1918 DMW Berlin. The K98K RC I also have does about 90 percent on the same batch of yugo, so I guess it's partially due to the spring in the 1918. No biggie.

Range Test, 1918 DWM Mauser/1936 RW

Hi all Shot the Gew98 this past weekend. At 100 yards, got all my shots inside the paper with iron sights. The target is the one about the size of a dinner plate, don't recall what its referred to. About 50% inside the black. I'm a relatively new target shooter. I don't know if one would call...

New Info on Rifle 1918 DWM Berlin Gewehr

After working on the gewehr, looked at the bands. They are loose enough to come off by hand, so this particular sticky widget won't be a problem after all. Funny thing is, I had cut my hand on the K98K previously. Now, you figure a bright young lad such as myself would know better than to...

New Info on Rifle 1918 DWM Berlin Gewehr

Just finished first pass with gun oil/Hopps. First time I've used Hopps. Amazing how much crud it removed....AND I had to stop. That stuff is PUNGENT!!! Can smell all thru the house. Old dish rag I used to wipe the thing down is almost black. PAN

New Info on Rifle 1918 DWM Berlin Gewehr

Will do pix shortly. I need to get the K98K stock finished up first. I'm going to do a gentle preliminary cleaning on the gew as one would do for any firearm after time at the range. Also needed to mention that the bore had no internal corrosion. By Imperial, do you mean roller coaster style...

New Info on Rifle 1918 DWM Berlin Gewehr

I depress the clips with a C clamp. I put something underneath the metal parts of the clamp to avoid marring up the rifle. The hard part is actually getting the bands to come off after depressing the clips with the clamp. I know not to use anything metallic or it will eat up the metal/wood when...

New Info on Rifle 1918 DWM Berlin Gewehr

Rare, common, unusual? The stock is in fair condition, almost to where one asks, "Should I clean it up or leave it alone", and apply some furniture polish and move on. The metal work is dirty, so it needs removing just to clean it up. As I learned on the K98K, getting the front bands off is a...
