    A practical question - a comfortable sling for a K98?

Thanks everyone for the input, as of now it looks like I'll be getting a repro like 8x57IS linked. Seems to do the job that i want it to do whilst keeping the "classic" look.

Is it possible to have the rifle slung on the back without having to stabilize it with hands?

    A practical question - a comfortable sling for a K98?

Hi! In some time I will be trying out my K98 as a hunting rifle. So far I haven't bought a sling for it. A part of me wants to buy an original sling, but I am not sure if it would be comfortable or if I would be able to use it without constantly thinking about damaging it. Would a repro sling...

Equipment and agents to clean/preserve the K98?

Thanks to y'all for the help. I really appreciate it. Okay. So the rod itself won't be a problem but it's a bad idea to use a 7,62mm jag för the 7,92 mm bore?

Equipment and agents to clean/preserve the K98?

So i found a good package deal for a Dewey cleaning rod that comes with a jag, cleaning pads, an adapter and some other stuff. Problem is, all of these accesories are in 7,62 mm. Is this incompatible with a 7,92 mm bore?

Equipment and agents to clean/preserve the K98?

Thanks, I'll make sure to get me one. Do you have any recmmendations concerning the rod or accesories? (Preferrably not a very expensive one, but one that does the job without damaging the bore)

Equipment and agents to clean/preserve the K98?

Thanks for the input! I've heard from some people that aluminium cleaning rods can damage the barrel and that it's best to use cleaning rods coated in carbon fiber... Is this true, or is it something that I shouldn't worry about?

Equipment and agents to clean/preserve the K98?

Hello everyone! First of all I'm hoping this is the right place to post this (I'm a bit of a newbie on the forum) How do you clean your bores? Is it important to have a high quality cleaning rod such as a Dewey, not to harm the bore? Do you have other tips on oils/solvent/agents to make sure...

My first K98 - What did i buy?

True. I didn't really mean litterally "polishing", but simply making the metal as good-looking as possible without removing bluing or markings.

My first K98 - What did i buy?

Here are some more pics, hopefully viewable this time Yes, the barrel is marked 660, with some other markings. As for refurbishment, i heard that copper whool would remove rust but leave bluing untouched. Is this true? The buttplate and the bolt ring are things I'd like to polish up somehow.

My first K98 - What did i buy?

I'll try to upload some new pictures. The number on the reciever is 9153, which matches with almost all other parts on the gun. (Exception being the safety, bolt lock and upper handguard) No, i didn't get it of Egun, simply from a danish gunstore i found. I'll check it out.

My first K98 - What did i buy?

Hi! I've been lurking these forums since my mauser interest started, and after 8 months of swedish and danish paperwork i finally managed to import a K98 from Denmark. It costed me 670 USD. To me it seems to be mostly matching, and in decent shape, but in needing of some restoration. I'm now...
