Nice! I like them used! Is your stock e/M proofed? Im asking because I had a Norwegian cupped walnut stockset that was e/M proofed ser 985 g. Looks like Steyr had a few blocks (f & g, I personally havent seen a h) of rifles ment for the Kriegsmarine.

It seems like in 41 Steyr had trouble with stocks.

Just wondering if all/majority of the cupped walnuts were e/M proofed in 41 and when the order for KM rifles was completed they switched back to cupped lams that were e/H proofed. Im positive theres exceptions and a gray area of transition.

You see flat lams, cupped lams, cupped walnuts in 41. The cupped lams and cupped walnuts ive seen with e/Ms. I personally havent seen a flat lam that was e/M proofed or a cupped walnut that was e/H proofed in 41.

It would be interesting to have a database on the bnz41s with attention to of type of stock and whether theyre e/H or e/M to illustrate a trend.

Reply to THunter.Yes i get the feeling that this is a marine K98 because of the N on the take down disc. Unfortunately the stock has been sanded and the proofs are gone.On a close look in the sun,i can see a faint M.

With all the recent show and tell on well used BNZ 41s i took this one out in to the mid summer sun [New Zealand] and had a good look at her.Well i see an M [marine] on the side of the sanded stock,as Thunter thought by the serial number. Alister

Brought this back up as CanadianAR is talking about N marked take down discs on these. He reports one,is this it.

This looks like the fleet mark without a number, no?

Well used yes but still a nice rifle! Beautifual walnut on this one!!

A gorgeous example. I have an f and g block rebuilds, both are Kriegsmarine as well. Cool to see some of the differences and similarities.

Also interesting to see another E/37 buttplate. I have seen a couple of g block bnz41 KMs lately with these, including mine.

Sure seems to point to them significantly overproducing these? I have one on an Erma too. I understand they used them pretty frequently.
