It's an 243 1938 3444 serialed Frankenstein, Barrel and Rec no'd the same. Stock unnumbered Laminated, upper hand guard is serialed 7xxx something. All Eagle proofs are xxx'ed out Even Weimar eagles? Who done this? Looks like chink letters now.Possible Greek letter on receiver.? The bolt has cuts in the back of it no waffen amts but some serials on it, was it strait bolt someone's bent? Also some other parts are unnumbered. See pics. I know nothing about such a Mix n match. Got it to mount a scope has pretty good bore, almost wanna grind the X's and restamp Eagles. Admins feel free to move to appropriate section if there is one. Cheers in advance. Ps what are the Brass pins in the pistol grip area? They to strengthen it ???

It has Hebrew markings (look like y) and an Israeli style front sight hood, so I would think Israel at some point. The defacement may have been done there for obvious reasons! I think a standard K98k bolt that has been decorated with the grooves for whatever reason. I would also guess the brass pins were added for reinforcement. Some 1903 Springfield stocks have a similar use of pins, rather than cross bolts. It may have gone to other countries in the Middle East and perhaps elsewhere later. As I understand, many of the Israeli K98k's went to South America at some point prior to being imported by other countries.

Dang, someone REALLY didn’t want eagles on their gun! Those are some heavy strike-outs.

The handle looks like it was always bent; I don’t know what’s with the grooves cut in there.

Looks like an Israeli Mauser that was never converted to 7.62 NATO. That's actually a fairly hard to find gun. While it's ugly, it's probably worth saving. The bolt? Who knows.

I have seen several Israeli K98k's still in 8mm with bolts that had those grooves cut in them (owned one a while ago). Were they cut to help identify the guns as 8mm? That's my theory any way.

Cheers for Replies. Yeah Gunstore bloke did say a Likely Israeli. I mean they even smashed out the imperial Eagle proof! so I took it as a real German hater smashed em out, And yeah looking at the handle it looks like it's meant to be bent. The grooves could be to identify 8mm but wouldn't it make more sense to mark receiver? Wondered why a 38' had a sighthood. Has a pretty good bore. What's with the groove on the stock? There's no screw holes there.

Ironically it's thanks to the ''Nazi's'' that the Jews have Israel. Cheers for info.

The guns in 7.62 were marked on the receiver and the stock in large font. Thus, anything without the mark should be 8mm.

Is there a large Hebrew character shaped like an "n" on the side of the buttstock? There should be if it's the original stock, from what I've seen. Most other Israeli's still in 8mm have this marking to denote the cal.

Yeah, Like this? I thought I uploaded it with the rest of pics but must've forgot or stuffed up. Wondered what it was i'd seen some French captures where they mounted a sling there n figured it was going to be a sling mount but never went through with it. Cheers. Wondered why it had no screw holes. How odd to mark the side of the stock, the way they smashed the Eagles they could've smashed a nice deep 8 in the receiver while they were at it! haha.

Would there be any particular reason why there's no 'Star of David' on it considering it was in Israel?
