I love the quotes around the "crs".

Nice example. Mine is 8785 f. The P. Weyersberg S84/98 T3s made during the years 1940/41 afford the collector with a number of unusual marking and serial number variants. These include the "Tr" contract pieces and examples of bayonets with serial numbers exceeding 10,000 units in both the "e" & "s" letter blocks (there may be others). Police, Reich Post, and unknown contract bayonets are also well known from their commercial production (Paul Weyersberg & Co|Solingen) as well.

41crs

I own three 41crs examples, and all three are different. One is a matched Tr, one has matching maker and serial markings, and, one has matched serials and no maker mark on the scabbard. Very interesting year for P. Weyersberg. I own three Tr bayonets (only one matched). None of the three blades are identified as 41crs, but they are well known to be 41crs pieces. The scabbard on the matched set is marked 41crs.

The scabbard on the matched set is marked 41crs.

Of the examples I own, there is:
1. "crs"|40 as mentioned previously
2. Unattributed bayonet. "41crs" on scabbard. Matching #s 10160 e
3. Unattributed bayonet. "44crs" on scabbard. Mismatched. Bayonet #11789 s / Scabbard
7588 e
4. "41crs" on both bayonet & scabbard. Matching with abnormally large serial# digits "519" & even larger capital letter-bloc suffix "L" on both bayonet & scabbard.
5. Unattributed bayonet & scabbard. Matching 5378|Tr only.
6. Unattributed bayonet. Scabbard: "41crs" Matching 14834|Tr Of note on this late example is the blood rust which has removed some of the finish around the muzzlering & crossguard. Also it appears the first two serial numbers on the bayonet, and "T" on "Tr" are smaller-sized number/letter dies than the rest of those used.

I once saw a nice "41crs" on Ebay. Both bayonet and scabbard had the date/code but no other markings. I tendered a strong bid (but not strong enough) and it went to another collector. In my reference notes I have several dozen P. Weyersberg "41crs" -period bayonets recorded. Regarding the 5-digit "e"-bloc example, serial#s 10818e bayonet with unattributed/commercial blanko scabbard also used to be mine, and 10586e (no scabbard) are known. For the 5-digit "s"-bloc, 10777s & 11789s have been reported. The highest "Tr" serial I show is 17150 Tr. Lastly, have #1937L with large serials and capital "L" suffix reported as well.

41crs

I would love to see some of them. Any chance of pix? I will post mine also. Unattributed means no maker mark?

Post amended above w/pictures of bayonets #2 thru #6. Yes, I use "unattributed" to mean there are no manufacturer marking(s) evident (this excludes serial numbers & WaAs).

My 41crs examples

As promised

1. 41crs 2838k - 41crs marked on blade and scabbard
2. 41crs 9491e - 41crs marked on blade only
3. 41crs 10009 Tr - 41crs marked on scabbard only

After seeing the other examples, I need to get busy trying to find some.

Yes. Now it is seen why my Forum user identity is "pwcosol"! I note first example in photo array has larger small-case "k" on bayonet, with scabbard having opposite...a smaller large-case "K". Often these 41crs are found using mixed-size serial number stamps. Also I like serial number 10009 on Tr example, too.

Trinxet:
For many years the "Bayonet Collector's Network" (BCN) was the collector's group most dedicated to the study of the German S84/98 T3. Forum member Andy B. was also a member, and has compiled an outstanding database of markings, dates of manufacture, serial number ranges, etc. Unfortunately the BCN disbanded in June of 2015 after 19+ years due to a declining interest by the membership. However, it is apparent a number of collectors of German bayonets, and the S84/98 T3 in particular, have found a home here at the K98k Forum.

Forum

I am a member of at least one other forum, and one FB page, but this forum gets the most views and replies. Both are good sources of information. I have learned more about 41crs in two or three replies than I learned in the previous four years of collecting.

Regarding other Forums, some information is found on the BCN Forum on Germandaggers.com. However, the majority of submissions there are about extraseitengewehre, police bayonets, etc. The Bayonet & Sword Forum on Gunboards is one other resource, but is much more varied. I know John Jacobi is involved with the BCN/Facebook site, but since I want nothing to do with social media, have never visited it.

One more sidebar regarding the S84/98 T3 are the "commercial" variations. When my interest in the S84/98 T3 began around 1980, most collectors did not care for these pieces because they typically did not have WaA markings. It was Third Reich edged weapons/dagger collectors whom liked the early, polished Police, R.P., etc. commercials. Thus, I was able to acquire quite a number of such examples since they were disregarded by many. Their number now comprises close to one third of my S84/98 T3s.

Mr. pwcosol thanks for your words, this forum is great, and everyday I learn something new, as I collect only the S84/98 T3

41crs

That is a nice example. You should share more.

Related to 'commercial' versions, I own one very nice example. I also own one very nice AWS, but I do concentrate on years/makers.

Hello, very nice thread with great infos added by PWcosol here, a one of the great experts in the area, long year moderator of BCN forum, the pieces of 41 crs are very interesting of their variety of stamping.
The 41crs 3207c was reported in 2003 by Kristian of Norway.b.r.Andy

Thanks Andy for the kind words. You have been of help to me & fellow collectors more times than I can count! I don't think anyone has a better S84/98 T3 database than the one you started and continue to maintain...

No more crs41

Mike, If you do some searches here on the forum you will find several threads with much information on the 1940-41 production by Weyersberg. Like Fred, I have been fascinated by Weyersberg for many years.
