Paul Weyersberg S84/98 T3s made in 1941, for the most part, are standard military contract pieces. On the other hand, something quite unusual also occurred during that year and no other. Most notably was the contract of approximately 17,000-plus "Tr" marked bayonets. In the K & L letter blocks, undersized or oversized number and/or letter stamps are seen on many examples. Lastly, bayonets of military contract production with serial numbers exceeding 10,000 have been found in the "e" & "s" letter blocks (possibly others?). I have 10160 e with that the only marking on the bayonet's ricasso. The scabbard is matched but also marked "41 crs" on the obverse. The "s"-range piece is 10729 s with that the only marking as well, but scabbard is mis-matched. This screwball tendency for these bayonets exhibiting similar characteristics with the "Tr" contract (full, partially, or completely missing manufacturer markings), has yet to be explained.
