if its real and its really hard to be 100% from those photos its a stunner. But, this is where you need to be careful. 3rd pattern tunics are very very common. The shoulder boards and skulls can be added very easily and even if they are original it could be a put together item. That said really nothing wrong with that IMHO it's just what the value is based off what's there. Adding the skulls was done there are many studio photos showing this. A surviving panzer DAK tunic is exceedingly rare !!!

Thanks for your input I know nothing about uniforms mostly daggers appears there is discloring in the pic where he removed the skulls so it looks like they may have been there for awhile and I am not even sure if the skulls are real or value of this piece as is

looks like you added a few more photos.. I also agree wear and fading can be done artificially. I guess it all depends on the asking price. Assembled VS original is a big difference

This is an original 1st pattern tunic but all stitched insignia have been reapplied and the skulls added post-war. Shoulder straps are reproductions. If you are thinking of buying it then make sure the price is commensurate with these issues.

Why do you think the skulls were added and fake shoulder boards ?

Senior enlisted and no collar tress? This is a post war enhanced tunic.

You do see Dak tunics in simple trim with higher ranking boards. I wouldn’t cast it aside for that. But with skulls added and such, it makes it a bit more questionable.

I have a Dak tunic, simple enlisted 1st pattern, but has well worn ObLt board ons it. Most people who’ve seen it agree they are likely original, who knows. But collar tress. If you google search for period images of different ranks, you’ll come across a lot of higher ranks, no tress. Just their boards slapped on, sometimes correct litzen still no tress.

Authentic pieces: base tunic, eagle, collar tabs
Repro pieces: shoulder straps
Would need detailed pictures of front and back of skulls to make determination on them.
All I have

It boils down to price, if he has it priced as if it were as worn, all original, then stay away, if its reasonably priced its a damned good looking tunic...

It boils down to my thoughts on repro versus real at this point...unless I am Elon Musk, a real SS assault gunners wrap complete goes for what, like $15k and up...if you can buy a repro, decked out, and 99% of the people looking at it couldn't tell if it was real or repro, and it costs $600 all in, why would I blow $15k?

2k

So the question is, is 2k worth the sum of the parts? One of the guys here should be able to say...not up on current tunic prices, but like everything they have gone crazy...
Absolutely NOT, unless you plan on leaving a trail of blood leaking out of your back side, and enjoy being screwed.

Yes, I know that is a rather harsh assessment, but the unvarnished truth .....

Walk away now !!!!!
