This was my prize from SOS. Thanks to Chris for talking me into this one. From what little I could find on these guns they were Bavarian overhauled carbines with newly made Amberg G88 receivers. I know Chris and Craig Brown both had similar carbines, but this one differs from theirs in a couple ways. The receiver on mine is 1893 dated, the screws are numbered and there is no GF proof instead the barrel is marked with a Prussian Eagle. The barrel band is marked for a Bavarian ersatz train unit and unfortunately the sling swivel was ground off but I take what I can with rare guns. I’m curious if anything else is known about these guns or if there are more out there.
