Bakelite Repro P.38 Grips?

It's like many other things...when you've handled enough real ones, you can usually spot the fakes. One giveaway here is that most the reddish grips from all the manufacturers used small wood shavings in the mixture. This has never been able to be duplicated (to date) by repo men. Most of the brown colored grips also had coloring oddities that were created by the various mixes and are also quite easy to distinguish. The interior markings are genuinely much sharper on original grips when compared to repops. There are also other small details in the markings on the inside, and small humps in certain places that will distinguish the real ones if you know what you're looking for.

They're great for replacing on collectible pistols you intend to shoot, but I don't think they're quite there yet with being able to be passed off as original.
