Not sure what I've got here. Cut like typical 84/98 but no marks. 883 WaA only plus serial on guard, one WaA88 maybe. Bluing on blade is almost purple.

Found it. 2nd Portugal contract 1941. Manufacturer unknown. If someone out there has byf41 Port contract F block 6925, I've got your bayonet. I'm pretty certain this guy's a veteran of the Wehrmacht and never made it to Portugal.

So to me this brings up the question, who serialized these unmarked but inspected bayonets? I'd say MO to match them with rifles. Any known info on this?

Hello we dont see the portugal serial, but when F6925 so the bayonet was delivered to Portugal, when not serialed so the bayonet was remained in Germany and used normally by Wehrmacht. Unfortunally no visible marking on frog stud, so when not F25 there is most real a 1.portugal contract M937 piece, should WaA253 stamped on ball finial. When this is right so the bayonet is certainly a Portugal import. The bayonets were serialed by gunmaker also Mauser Werke Oberndorf am Neckar.b.r.Andy

Hello Andy. The frog stud does have the F letter block and 2 digits. So if serialized that means it was delivered to Portugal? I ask because what of all the Port contract rifles that were delivered to the Wehrmacht?

When so the bayonet is matching with scabbard, should be F25 stamped, there are reported few pieces of F,G,H range that were not delivered to Portugal and remained in Germany probably for 1942 offensive in Russia. There are too unserialed pieces, mainly in nice unused condition found. For detailed info should be looked into portugal serial number research on this forum probably. b.r.Andy
I would tend to Portugal delivery F6756 was found matching with rifle and bayonet
the earliest Wh piece in F range F8690 but here could be missreported the first 1 digit, but the majority of Wh delivered are in F18xxx and early G range.
