EOD - bombs and bullets
So this was a cool/interesting acquisition...saw this posted on another board for sale. Pics were kind of blurry, but looked interesting enough for ne to send an e-mail inquiry.

Asked seller if stock was sanded, better pics of bands and screws, were there any markings on the stock, etc.

Gentleman responded back how the gun was correct etc, except for mismatched bolt, and duffle cut under rear band. Then mentioned the gun once belonged to a Mike Steves (whom he bought it from) and proceeded to explain who he was...lol. I said, Oh, yeah, I know that guy...I didn't need anymore info, I just said I'll take it. Apparently he knows Bruce and Loewe for a long time too, small world.

Anyway, I was intrigued since it is a reclaimed VK receiver, with no MOD. 98 designation on the top of the receiver. Although in his add he said it was a "q" block, but it is a late "r" block, only about 300 or so lower than my matching "r" block in walnut.

Everything seems correct and proper for the gun, other than the matching to itself blm bolt. The duffle cut was pretty poorly repaired, but good enough for me, it doesn't show under the band. Screws are correct small head large shank, stock has the large Eagle over "H" acceptance. There is a single E/623 on the RR, but no final acceptance at all on the top.

I was really happy with it when I got it in hand, great look to it, and an oddball variation, so thats cool! Glad I stumbled onto it...

I remember that one. Same condition I sold it. The stock was actually cut back behind the rear band by 1/8th inch and the duffel cut part is custom made adding that 1/8 inch or so back to it. I described it in my ad when I sold it here.

Funny how these things work out sometimes. I like the lack of a top final too. I have one in the t block that's also missing it. Great looking gun for sure!

What an awesome and uncommon rifle! Glad you found it, thank you for sharing it.
