Hello,

I wanted to buy this byf 44 K98. Im a little bit curious about the mk-2 mark on the Stock. After my research I only found two Posts like it could be a Yugo or East German Rework Stamp. What you think about this K98?

I hope you guys could help me to learn more about this piece and the realistic value.

Thank you!

Best regards,

I would want to see pictures of the stock barrel channel and underneath of the upper handguard. The lower band serial number was not shown from what I could see either. The stock has been refinished, so that lowers the value considerably.

Have seen Yugoslav reworked stocks with a TRZ-1 or maybe other numbers in that location, but not MK-2. The rifle itself doesn't seem to have any sign of Yugoslav or East German handiwork. The buttplate also looks like a later addition. Agree with checking to see if stock s/n matches, or if it too was added later.
