Correct P38 holster

My dad gave me a really nice ac41 h block p38 20 years ago. I'd like to get a correct holster for it as issued. Was there any conjunction between pistol manufacturer and holster issue? I'm sure it would be a hardshell. Also, it only has the one matching mag, so I guess a secondary mag that would be close enough would be a WaA359 mag? Trying to complete a rig. Any leads on these items would be nice. Thanks

Man I wish my AC41 only had one matching magazine! How is the finish on the gun? The high polish models are very sharp looking. I was told that a 41 hardshell is correct for it. They are apparently hard to find because a lot of them were destroyed. (This is what I was told and in no way represents fact. I am hoping someone more knowledgeable about comes along and elaborates on this)

As for the magazine, try an ebay search for ac41 magazine. I constantly search this term hoping to locate my pistols serial numbered magazine 5887. There are several different variations of early Walther magazines but if you want one as close to original as possible, find a WaA359 magazine with a serial number on the toe like your original matching magazine. There should be 359 stamps on follower, baseplate, and the magazine body.

This is the information I have learned from researching my pistol so hopefully it helps you out.

If you ever run across magazine 5887, let me know!

UGAFX4 is probably correct in stating a 41 dated hard shell holster being correct, especially for an early date pistol. However, it has been found that P38s were also holstered in P08 holsters. I have a CYQ that Came right from the vet in a P08 holster that he took from a German. I wasn't sure about that, so I did some research, and sure enough, there's plenty of them out there, and plenty of proof to support it. You can also go to the P38 forum and check with the guys in the know there. Believe there is also some inquiries and answers to this topic in their holster category.

I totally agree with you Rook16. Its hard to say what the "correct" holster was. It could have been a variety of options and I believe a p08 holster is one of them. They even converted p08 holsters. I think the one thing we can say with certain is not a softshell.

A question for those more knowledgeable: could wear patterns on his p38 provide an answer as to what holster it was in?

Finally, like rook16 said, please check out p38 forum. They are great over there and will be able to help you out. They helped me out a ton!
