Dot 44 rear capture screw

I recently acquired a mismatched Romanian Captured Dot 44. I noticed something interesting regarding the rear capture screw, there's not one but it looks like a shaft is there. I did a little research and read that the stamped trigger guards later in the years didn't have the rear screw tapped for threads. Is this the case here?

I was also thinking that as well. I haven't removed the trigger guard yet. Will this cause an issue in removal?

No, it should actually make it easier to remove the remains of the broken screw. Take out the front action screw and you'll have the TG loose by itself. Since there's no tension on it you should be able to turn the screw shank by hand. If someone cross-threaded it in there that's a different story.

If you get the broken lock screw out, you may want to not install a new one if you are going to use this rifle as a shooter. After so many years of wood shrinkage, the notch on the action screws may not properly align with the lock screws when fully tightened. More important for the action screws to be tight than having the lock screw if shooting it. I have a Romanian used dot 44 for a shooter and remove the lock screws(later un-notched type) and re tighten the action screws when I want to shoot it. Just a thought!
