Although not a Mauser i have noticed the interest here for the Zündnadelgewehr so I though i would share some photos of mine and contribute something to this forum. Sömmerda manufacture. I have added photos to this tread, I posted them further down in several posts below.

That's a nice old soldier. These are a cool model, I like the slightly shorter barrel. It makes it a little handier. Is the needle intact?

Detailed photos of the bolt and bolt components. There is a potion of the needle still intact, protruding from the brass protection tube. In a post further below Chris says that an unbroken needle is perhaps 3 inches longer than shown here.

I'll check one of mine for exact length but probably about 3 or so inches longer than yours.

It's great to see that more pre 1871 rifles. Thank you very much for showing your Füsiliergewehr. It appears to be one of the very first ones. Produced in 1861 and issued to the troops in the same year.

The unit marking reads as the "Füsilier-Regiment "Fürst Karl-Anton von Hohenzollern" (Hohenzollernsches) Nr. 40".

Yes, and the 1 is the company number.
So "F.R. 40. 1. 103" stands for the "Fusilier Regiment "Fürst Karl-Anton von Hohenzollern" (Hohenzollernsches) no. 40, 1st company, weapon no. 103."

The slightly confusing part is that this doenst mean that the prussian army had at least 40 fusilier regiment. The regimental number was a consecutive number that included all types of infantry. Most of them were regular infatry regiments but there were also some grenadiers and some fusiliers. The regiments 33-40, 73, 80, 86, 90 and 122 were all fusilier regiments.
