ERMA serial number

Quick question, I just purchased the 2 volume collector books on k98k. In the book for the year 1939 with ERMA 27 code, it states highest reported serial # is 2989n. Mine is serial # 6491, am I missing something?

Your rifle is in the first series of 10,000 for the year, the no suffix series. After 9999, the number would roll over to 1a-9999a, then 1b-9999b, and so on.

Your example is a no suffix (beginning of the year)

The example cited in Karem & Steves is an "N" Block.

Ahh, that makes sense now. The serial numbering gets me confused sometime.
