FN 1900 Gunbroker Turd

Since the fake stamp thread has been circling around, figured I’d post this stinky FN 1900 up for sale on gunbroker. The heartbreaking part is that it was a legitimate Belgian military pistol that someone destroyed by “enhancing the providence” of it.

If someone can prove my wrong, please do, but I have no idea why a proof for nazi produced commercial guns would be on a pistol the stopped production in 1914. Additionally, the eagle n proof seems notorious for light/shallow application whereas this one is very deep and “well” struck. Comparing to other pictures of the eagle n, the wings seem to have an additional layer of feathers not present on reference photos. Seems like bubba bought the stamp.

I don’t see any replies refuting it on the older Luger forums post. At first it appears the E/N on the 1900 is different (4 feathers per wing) but if you look closely, you can see the stamp bounced in all 3 places. I have not seen one before BUT…..how can we know either way?
It would be nice to see the barrel.
There isn’t much financial gain in such a fake. It has been around since 2013 at least. It’s not done in a spurious manner. I’m on the fence.

I actually carry a 1900 in my truck and have a minty 1899.

I'm thinking that M1900 should be flushed. And as to the M1910 with the German e/N proof, I'm extremely uncomfortable with everything about that pistol.........

Did you try Anthony Vanderlinden on the Luger forums? He can probably answer this.
Here is an E/N 1910 pistol
I have not, but I own his book on browning pistols and it makes no mention of this marking observed on the model of 1900. At least the 1910 w/ eagle n example makes some sense since they were manufactured under occupation whereas this 1900 having already gone through Belgian military acceptance is clearly pre-war.

Edit: the eagle n 1910 is referenced in vanderlindens book as well

After searching for any evidence of another example, I discovered a thread with another strange anomaly concerning a 1900 pistol. While this sheds no further light on the subject pistol, there are circumstances where foreign weapons were imported during wartime and needed to be proofed in almost unexplainable circumstances.
It’s an interesting and different topic. It’s either a fake or got imported to Germany for someone during the occupation of Belgium? Who knows.
