Hey quick question i have an original k98k from 1944. My buddy picked up a byf 1944 in 8mm in a israeli stock. Unique thing about the rifle my buddy had, was it had a wide or thicker triangular sight that was easier to see than my german original. I wonder if its a yugo m48 front sight. I am eager to hunt down this thicker easier to see front sight. Any feedback about this would be greatly appreciated. They look similar height but just one was wider/thicker.

So quickly did yugo 48s, (czech/yugo) referb k98ks, or israeli/fn k98ks have thicker front sight blades?

Norwegian ones did. They also modified the notch at the rear sight as well. I find the German front blade in the wider Norwegian rear notch works well. It was to go conversion to .30-06, but it works for my old, near-sighted eyes.

Thanks for your input. I am aware of the u notch and thicker blade sight the Norwegians did. I own 2. They are my hunting rifles.

What I am talking about triangular front sight that is wider. Than the standard german front sight. V notch rear and really thick inverted V that is easy to see.
