G24(t) a block bolt

Recently bought a bolt mismatch German modified VZ24. Bolt is from a G24(t) and is in the white. Patina and surface rust make me think this has been that way for some time. It is an a block bolt. We're these in the white in the very beginning?

Are you sure Bob? I'm thinking initially the G24t looked just like a VZ24 including sling arrangement and in the white bolts. Not sure an "a" block would be in the white though.

I agree with Farb. I think the earliest G.24(t)'s were virtually the same as Vz.24's and had bolts in the white. It likely changed in the no letter block.

Thanks. Have you observed blued bolts in the no letter or "a" blocks. I've tried to find examples online but haven't come across any.

I have photos of a high 9000 no letter block range rifle and it's bolt is in the white, but the gun is heavily cleaned. Still, I think the bolt wasn't ever blued.

Thanks. That is helpful. My bolt is about 3200 rifles later, right? Looking mine over I don't see evidence it had been blued before but it would be nice to get some more data on bolts within the range between the one you note and mine.

Hambone, I believe you have a passion for VZ24's and G24(t)'s don't you? At least that's the impression I've gotten from some of your posts. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Appreciate the feedback thus far. I think it's an interesting topic regarding the transition from VZ24 to G24(t).

I had an early no-letter and the bolt appeared white, but the nocks had crannies seem blued IIRC. Stock was cleaned, receiver was perfect, figured the bolt had been clean up too as I remembered it...

Careful inspection didn't reveal signs of bluing until I stripped the bolt sleeve and got a look at the bolt sleeve lock. Seems pretty clear now this was originally blued.
