GAppel 22 cal Cleaning Kit

I have wanted one of these for awhile. The kit does not have the correct brushes but I think the can, chain and oiler could be correct. There is no year or maker mark stamped on the chain or oiler. There are no waffenamps anywhere on the can, chain or oiler which would be correct for a 22 cleaning kit. I would like to hear opinions. If anyone has the correct brushes please send me a PM.

Thanks

Some guy named Farb has the brushes. Maybe he is in a horse trading mood?

I like the thread as it gives me more information. I couldn't open the pictures but I think that is what happens to links over time. Peter has 10 of them, that is impressive. I have collected training rifles for a few years and this is the first one that I came across and I am happy to have it.

When you open up that archive link, near the top is a heading "View full version" with a hi-lightable link. If you click on that it will allow you to view the original thread with pics. You may have to resign in to see the pics. Hope that helps.

Thank you for the heads up. Much nicer to read the full version. Those are all very nice kits in that thread.

BG, I was looking through your book again this morning. The pictures are amazing and are going to be very helpful when I am looking over an item I am thinking of buying. This really has been a watershed year for smallbore collectors with two books coming out this year.

Here is a 1937 G.Appel for comparison. The chain is marked GA 1937 and the oiler is marked G.Appel 1938.

That is one nice kit. The GAppel Kits with no markings, are they the later variation?

[/rg34 3.jpg

G.Appel marked their kits from 1935 to 1938 withtheir firm's name and the year

g appel 1937 waa500.jpgg appel 1938 waa500.jpg
code "500" was assigned to G.Appel by the Heeserwaffenamt

From 1939 to 1940, kits were "G.Appel" marked without WaA

cnx.jpg

from 1941 to 1945, kits were stamped with G.Appel code "CNX" without WaA

I see that some of the kits were acceptance marked. I thought they were civilian kits and would not be acceptance marked.

There is a tremendous amount of misinformation regarding Gustav Appel rg34 production in this thread. To include markings, dates, and WaA acceptance marks. A search here on the forum will reveal several threads with accurate detailed information.
