Germanized M89 Belgian

Hi Guys,

Thought I'd do one I hadn't posted before. I bought this one about a year ago. Marc saw this one on a website after I'd passed the first one I found off to him. While not perfect, it's a solid example of a tougher rifle.

The story with these is that the Germans accumulated a good number of Belgian weapons during their capture and occupation of the country. Such captured weapons were marked with a "DEUTCHES REICH" stamp on the stock. While some weapons were sent to the Ottomans (same caliber), some were reworked for German use. The rifles were disassembled and rechambered in 8mm, then reassembled. The barrel shroud was re-stamped to match the receiver SN, and the bolts were re-serialized. No other parts were renumbered. Additionally, the rifle was re-proofed on the receiver, barrel shank and bolt with an imperial eagle upon assembly and test fire. Finally, acceptance was applied to the right receiver.

This particular example is sadly bolt mm, as the bolt does not have the renumbered ball and eagle proof. The RR acceptance and receiver proof are visible and the stock cartouche is also present. The stock on this one has a cool Belgian Garde Civique stamp on the left side. I couldnt get off the barrel jacket, so no pics of the barrel eagle.

Despite the mm bolt, it's a unique piece and was a great way for me to justify having a Belgian 89.
