As I posted on gb, I don’t like it. Z block? bek scope with front H band? I’m suspicious

I would be interested in seeing some more detailed pics . Its not an impossibility that it could be original . Would first want to know are Bases LT or HT ?? . The bek Scope could have Reclaimed LT Rings on it . Scope Serial #76842 from what I can see and best I can tell . My Late War BYF44L block Low Turret has bek #77362

Ben from classic firearms here, *wipes 1 gal of sweat* and today im bringing you this really rare German k98 sniper rifle. Its in a little bit of ruff shape but should clean up nicely. Bore is really dark but still has strong rifling. Well be offering this once in a life time deal on our we sight for $29,999.99. Again a little worse for wear but still a great rifle to add to your collection.

I agree it should be looked at with high caution. What I think is also odd are the offset half moon cutouts in the front ring. They are supposed to be in line to allow using the open sights, with this gun they are off. Basically this would require a front scope ring bottom portion to be incorrectly re-welded to the top ring.

Attached all pictures from gunboards.

sniper rifle

Could it be a low turret rifle with a late war BEK hi turret scope shoved into it ?

I'd say it's highly unlikely that its original factory made, the base rifle is most likely a byf41 with that serial on receiver and barrel. So - a turret byf41?

Interesting if the scope or bolt can be removed. I saw lots of dug out weapons during my youth in Poland and in majority of them you couldn't move a single part. All was fused as one solid piece by corrosion. You couldn't open the bolt or a slide. This sniper seems like those parts are free to move. I am not saying it is bad, but it is common practice to dug in and then later recover fake SS buckles to sell them as dug out originals after most crucial details and features are eaten away by corrosion.
