I am in no position to buy, but am curious about this one. Cross-referencing the picture references here, the biggest red flags are the lack of a proof next to the receiver serial number and the dis-colorization from the soldering of the scope bases. Otherwise the major features seem to match.

Wanted to see if I am at the point of being able to sniff out fakes or not.

Pretty decent fake.

Edit:
To elaborate more. The bases look to be original, the receiver is not an original sniper receiver. Along with that the rings look to be renumbered from the high resolution pics the seller posted in their description.

Well someone fell for it. I think it was $5700 or $5800. Yike. At this point I don't trust any 'original sniper rifle' on gunbroker because of all the fakes. Only ones I've bought there were sporters that the seller didn't even know what it was and was in no way marketed as one. That's how you know it's legit!

You're acting in good faith it appears, but no posting of ongoing auctions for discussion unless you are pointing out a turd conclusively. If you don't know, don't post. It opens the door for the driveby littering of our free site with auction shilling and chumming. That's a banning offense. You can post pics if you don't know with no indication of an auction. We have few rules here. The information is free, international, and the best on this planet. The only posting of ongoing auctions is a Turd Alert to protect collectors who don't know any better from being defrauded and to show who is selling fakes.

Looks like a sniper fake to me. Original bases. Heat marks and finish around bases look bad. No WaA 135 on receiver for A block 1944 is bad sign. Pictures not great but front band I don't like. Scope numbers are bad I think. Once again bad photos. I think someone got a bad deal.
