Hi All,
I'm a bit behind on posting my WW2 stuff, as things have been pretty busy in Imperial collecting, but had this one out for photos finally.
I picked this up last summer from one of my good friends for a lot less than i should have paid. I used to have an early "b" block Gustloff but ended up selling it, so this one filled a nice gap in my 43s.
9590 a, e/749 acceptance, circle "v" on small parts, all text book. aye mag. The bcd code is actually below the wood line as you sometimes see on these. The rifle matches and presents well with a couple of minor blips--
1) The stock was duffel cut in the front right behind the band spring and has been repaired.
2) The stock was very lightly sanded (my opinion anyway), most likely when the d/c was repaired. The stock stamps are still pretty crisp, the stock surface just doesn't look 100% right, so I suspected sanding.
3) The dust cover is the later manual type. The finish matches well, but this is likely a later replacement by a collector.
Anyway, here are the pics.
