Is this a good first K98 bayonet? 43 ASW / 1938 Scabbard

Good Afternoon.

I stumbled on this bayonet in my rounds yesterday. Being new to K98s I'm even newer to bayonets. Here are the details as best I can relate.

Scabbard marked E.u.F. Horster over 1938. On the other side a non matching SN: 658? v.

Blade on one side is marked 43 asw (which I see is the same as E.u.F. Horster), other side SN 2178 and a suffix I can't determine.

It has wood panels, that I think look too good to match the blade, but I am no expert.

The blade has interesting "patina" or stains on it.

The button to secure it is frozen/non functioning at the moment.

Generally speaking I think it looks decent but I don't know. They are asking $70.

If that is in the fair realm for a bayonet in that condition I'll go get it for one of my RCs.

I just realized I didn't take very good photos of the whole bayonet/scabbard. I apologize and will go get more if that helps.

Thank You for your help.

Non matching scabbard and blade -
Blade looks sharpened - can't really tell from pics - others here more expert than me.

$50.00 or less, for me - and not really much of a starter to be honest.
I like the scabbard more than the blade.
(Frog fastener is a bit bent, though.)

There are better starters available on this site or gunboards, most of the time.
There is a matching over at gunboards for $125 - a better starter IMO.

The letter of series on bayonet is s, the piece is heavily sharpened, so the price must be done, the grips are new and not origin, same as there is missing the flashguard, like mentioned the only good thing is the scabbard. No way to pay 70 bucks for it, search a better condition piece.

In agreement with everything already stated above. I would pass on this one as you can do better for similar money on a "starter" piece. As fyi only the letter block is s.

Thank You for saving me from myself!

Thank you all. I always feel like I need to be a "no-kill rescue shelter" for military artifacts. My wife does not really appreciate that sentiment so I have to be a bit more selective!

Thank you all again.
