Hi. Peter Need help reading this Wehrpas ,KIA in Russia, He was a Truck driver , Died at 23 years old , Trained on the K98, earned a few medals. Need help on the rest in his book. Thanks SVW1945

Service history is all clearly laid out there - Ost medal, war merit cross 2nd klasse with swords, Iron cross 2 klasse, drivers badge in bronze. He was in 3 Kompanie, Pioneer Rgt 35 (35 infanterie division). He clearly was a driver, but did get promoted to Unteroffizier in 1944 days before he dies, I’m guessing a posthumous promotion? Died in service with 3./Pioneer 35.

The printed inserts tell of the battles he was in -- (Border crossing, breakthrough of the Stalin Line, for example). For a non-fluent German speaker, it can be a bit painstaking to put together, but there is much there. I looked at it briefly,
it appears he was in the fighting on the approach to Moscow and other areas that will tell the conditions he
endured, etc. Hope this helps!

Wikipedia happens to call out this exact pioneer regiment in its article on the 35th... They were involved in some warcrimes.
