Late Ingolstadt P08 depot build

A fellow collector had this and it wasn't really his thing. It was definitely mine, so we worked a deal.

The P08 is built mostly out of spare parts by Ingolstadt (HZaJt3), however a lot of the small parts are salvages. The upper assembly is made entirely out of Mauser spares, and the frame is a very roughly machined 1918 Erfurt spare. Grips are unnumbered Mauser (one 655 and one S/42), and the firing pin is completely unmarked. The salvaged small parts are simply overstamped with the new SN. Ingolstadt matching mag is a very nice bonus.

I think these Jt3 builds are later war builds from 1943 or 1944. There are also Jt20 builds around and those are earlier IMO (1941/2). All of these I have seen (admittedly only a handful) use spare Erfurt frames, so Ingolstadt must have had a large pile of these on hand. This is the highest SN I have seen for the Jt3 variant, though a 7000 range SN is known for the Jt20. I think Ingolstadt made quite a lot of these.

This has an usual fireproof, one of two I have seen on Ingolstadt reworks. This is is very simplified one, the other looks more like a Reichsadler and is similar to the FP found on the reworked rifles.

Totally cool Ryan. Thanks for sharing this and while they're not my jam I appreciate this kind of oddity. That they're built from the spares/salvage pile is even more cool IMHO

That’s a great Luger Ryan…. Love the melding of imperial and Nazi era parts…. If you ever decide to kick it out of bed, I would be game…..
