I'm just getting started in collecting, and am enjoying learning all about my newly acquired CE 43.
All the numbers and symbols are very interesting and a bit overwhelming.
I'm getting pretty caught-up in the history part of my new hobby, as I've always been a WWII buff.
What I'm looking for is for some way to catalog all the markings and conditions of the components on the 98k.
Has someone developed a blank "spec sheet" 1-pager, that has some graphics of the receiver, bolt, barrel, floor plate, butt plate, stock, etc etc, to be able to make notes capturing all the markings found?
I started to sketch one up, but thought this had to be something that someone's already created.
Would be really cool to have several sections, each for the key areas of the rifle where markings are found, like the list above.
And then a cut&paste library of symbols (Wafenamt's, War eagles, serial numbers, suffixes, etc) to insert in the exact spot where found on each rifle being catalog'd.
End result would be a precise 1-pager "pedigree" of the rifle, to be entered into a journal along with photos, place of purchase, price, any other history learned along the way, etc, etc.
Fear I'm getting sucked into this pretty deep and pretty fast, but I don't think I'm alone in that regard!
Any input would be appreciated.
