Not sure what thread to put this in...looked at a very decent M-96 side today at a local gun store ...as usual my knowledge of Mausers is totally difficient.
Gustav..don't remember the year...Guessing 70% gun with a all matching numbers as far as I can tell. Looked unaltered
What should a guy expect to pay?

They're surprisingly cheap for the high quality guns that they are. You can get them all day on Gunbroker for ~$600-700, and less if you're willing to hunt a deal. Factor shipping into that though, as well as FFL fees if you don't have a C&R. I just passed one by that I was watching that went for a final price of $500 or so, wasn't QUITE a good enough deal for me to move the funds right now when I'm saving for other things.

Normal caveats apply for rare variants, sniper models, etc., and WMO or Husqvarna rifles tend to go for a tiny bit more.

edit: check for modifications, a lot of them got drilled and tapped for target sites. I'm not interested in those, so I'd apply a pretty steep discount to what would effectively be a parts gun at that point. A bunch had the muzzles threaded for blank firing adapters. Not ideal, I'd still not pay top dollar for one, but also not the deal breaker that cutting the receiver is.

CG made some 500 thousend pieces (M96 rifles) or even more whereas Mauser made only around 40.000 and Husqvarna just a few thousand, so the latter are really quite uncommon - if they are real M96s. All companies made spare receivers that were used to repair existing rifles and and a Husqvarna receiver can have the number of a CG oder Mauser M96. The true Husqvarna rifles are all in the high 6XXXXX serial number range and certainly deserve certain premium if for sale.

Thank you both for the information with I also deem as advice.
Internet connection iffy...snowing hard right now
