Mauser bolt

Hello, My father was a WW2 vet who brought back a k98. The straight bolt id number matched the receiver. However, he had the rifle drilled for a scope and used a bent bolt for deer hunting. I would appreciate if anyone could supply any information (age, manufacturer, value) about the bent bolt. It has a number 35 on the safety and the number 9802 on it at three different locations.

Here are some additional photos of the bolt and receiver.

Thank you.

It was produced at what the Germans called the Brunn I facility in german occupied czechloslovakia in 1944.

Thanks for your reply. The bent bolt was not original to the k98; photos of this bolt are attached. I have the original bolt (numbered 105), same as the receiver. I understand that bolt and receiver were produced in Czechoslovakia, but I was wondering about the bent bolt which was not original to the gun and is numbered 9802 and has a number 35.

If original german, should be a marking here in the circled area of the attached picture.

Dot 1944 was made in Protektorat Boehmen und Maehren not in Czechoslovakia by firm of Zbrojovka Brno, who changed it to scoper mount hard to say probably postwar so the bolt was changed to better using with the scope evidently. on the bolt is not visible that was made by ZB??.

from the photos, it looks like the bent bolt handle was a straight one, cut off & welded back on in a new position, a common technique used in “sporterization” in the ‘50s & ‘60s. the process often obliterates any original marks through fusion, filling & filing) if you can remove the striker assembly from the modified bolt, you “might” see a firing proof on the rear flat, right where the handle joins the body. Its hard to see this spot with the bolt assembled. the gas vent holes are oval, so not a ‘late war’ pattern bolt body. machining appears rough, could be wartime. are there any ‘circle Z’ marks on any of the bent bolt parts?

Thank you for the replies. Great information. I examined the outside thoroughly and could not find any ZB or circle Z marks. However, I did find a new number 27 near the safety. I have attached a photo.
