Andrew here, just bought my very first Mauser. I own many rifles, mostly shooters but a few collector guns. I’m a savage 1899/99 nut but have of course always admired the Mauser action and thought I would have an example one day. Well today I walked into my favorite second hand store and the owner was going through an estate he had just bought. I think there were 60 long guns in all. I bought a 99 but also this attractively priced Mauser Sporter that looked to be in very fine shape. I joined here to educate myself and forgive me for any noob blunders up front. I will have it in my hands after my Ca. 10 day wait. Bore is beautiful and everything else looks good. I love hunting with and range shooting guns of a bygone era.Cant wait to find out what I have and how it shoots! It’s marked DOU 41, receiver and bolt have same number and it has various proof marks with nazi eagle, etc.
