Michael over at mfiap.com has just released his new replacement stock button for the GSG/ATI MP40 in both 9mm and .22LR. Does not work with original MP40's. This kit replaces the left side button with a historically correct knurled style and changes the inner lugs of it so that you now get the proper downward angle on the stock when it is unfolded instead of sticking straight out the back as it does with the ATI stock kit.
Manufacturing and machining of the part is exceptional and the finish matches the ATI stock perfectly. Installation is no harder than installing the hard to come by ATI stocks as it is just a plug and play replacement for the other stock button, but if you already have your stock mounted, you will have to drive out the roll pin, take the stock apart, swap in the new mfiap part and then drive in the new tapered roll pin (which is included). To help with the install, MFIAP includes a pin punch. Install of these stocks can be a 3 handed affair, but I found that installing the roll pin is much easier if you use a C clamp (or similar grip type clamp) to hold the two sides of the stock together to allow all the parts to line up and allow the pin to be driven through. I also had better luck driving the pin through the bottom instead of from the top.
Michael is working on a version that will work with the BK Production Groups BD38, but that is not ready yet. He says it can be made to work with various airsoft stocks but the quality of those is subpar at best. I would suggest reaching out to him via his website for more details on that.
If you are someone that owns a GSG/ATI MP40 9mm or .22Lr and have legally SBR'd your gun and own one of the stock kits, I would HIGHLY recommend this part as it simply works and looks great. Here are a few pics of mine installed. Please note, my MP40 has its fair share of scratches, knicks and scrapes in the finish but that it all product of use, not anything related to my modded parts installs.
