Please some explain why people are bidding on this and what this is?

I’ve read here that Mitchell’s only butchered the very best condition rifles, kind of like the Russian refurb, only SoCal style. It’s kinda funny that the rifle has a sniper safety, doesn’t really need it with the height of the swept-back mount……

but to a total noob, it looks like a nice vintage rifle, but cleaned up! shiny objects!!
 
Do people still not understand MMs are messed with and not correct at all?
Tbh, from my experiences at local gun ranges, most people don't know jack about milsurps. They can tell what an M1 Garand looks like or a K98k but they can't really go through a decipher when a stock has been cleaned up so they think the gun is in amazing condition. Or some people don't realize originality triumphs.
