interesting looking item to say the least. Pre war polish sniper. Where most other polish optics are zeiss copies I cant see whay they would use a russian scope ?

I think it is a put together. It might have been done by Russians using Polish captured rifle, but not by Poles before WWII. Poland did not officially produce sniper rifles before the war. There was only experimental trial series made in late 20's, but the idea was dropped. Polish optical company PZO made around 120 scopes during that time for those rifles. I know of one that exist and I owned it in late 90's. It had a serial number 006 and was similar to German scopes with mounts like semi turret mounts found on wwI German snipers. I never heard of the rifle that exists. The idea of sharp shooters came back in mid 30's. As a result long version of mauser rifle k98a was put back into the production, but without any optical sights. Nevertheless, if it is period made Russian conversion, that would make it interesting catch.

I agree with Jack
I asked my Polish Friend and he told me, that it is not pre war or war sniper rifle.
Post WWII polish army used regular Mosin sniper and later Dragunov
IMHO this item was assembled by somebody post WWII

Very nice Soviet PE scope and mount. That's also a very interesting way to lock the elevation and windage knobs. I've seen similar arrangements on other PE/PEM scopes that came from Finland, this arrangement looks much more robust.

This is not my area of expertise... But, perhaps it was German done? I've seen other Soviet scopes adapted to the Mauser rifle. Are the Soviet markings scrubbed? Can't tell from the pics.

As far as the Russian Marking being Scrubbed , Sorry I don`t know . I can ask my friend whom I am helping to find out if Info Exists or Not on this Subject Sniper . This was one thing that crossed My mind was Possible German Field Armorer Built as the Germans did use some Very Strange Combinations . I do Thank Everyone for their Views on this Sniper in Question . If one can actually call it a Sniper Rifle in the True Definition of Sniper Rifle or would it be called a Scoped Rifle . Best Regards
