Hi
I did post this article in the wrong listing before . In my collection of parts I have a muzzle cap that is marked J.G. Anschutz and it is for a German 22 cal. trainer. It in very good condition are they that rare??
Could you please tell what it is worth? A friend wants to trade it for some part I need.
Thank You
Bob

They are indeed a rare item. Being a small, removable accessory, they were often lost entirely and never replaced, although replacements were available from many sources besides the manufacturer. The factory-issue covers with maker's logo are more rare than the generic ones. JGA also put them on 4mm guns, as did only a few others. MANY of these which did survive have the cap "mushroomed out" from a round being fired with the muzzle cap in place. Their primary purpose was two-fold: protecting the crown of the bore when cleaning, and keeping dust out.
I am apprehensive about putting a value on anything, and especially when I can't touch it. Let's put it this way: They are no longer being made. They are worth whatever is agreeable to the seller and the buyer.

muzzle cover

Not super rare but desirable to someone who owns one of these rifles. As I mentioned before. You will get an idea of value I'm sure from offers received as it seems clear you are looking to sell.
