im reading online that there are a few different types of 8mm mauser ammo, including different propellant and bullet types.
i have a dot44 mauser that id like to take to the range (after the headspace checks out) but id like to know if there are any major ammo providers out there now that makes ammo that will be safe to use with a 5 decade old rifle? the barrel looks good as does the rifling so i dont think this was ever on the actual battlefield spitting ammo on a dailey basis, but i also dont want to only have this shooting for a few weeks before theres a failure of the very bad kind from using modern ammo that might be stronger then what it was originally designed to fire?
im confused because the internet lists .318 and .323 bullet sizes and different presure loads. i guess an 8mm mauser isnt an 8mm mauser isnt an 8mm mauser ha!
i ask because was looking to get surplus on gunbroker.com but they have surplus from like 10 different contries from all different years, so id rather go with a modern ammo made now for my particular rifle if that makes sense.
thanks all!
