Spangenburg & Sauer (Sp.&Sr.) Kar71

Hello everyone, I got this Kar71 about four or five years ago. I was and still happy I added this to my collection when I did. 1877•1877 Sp. & Sr. 1509 (K. Mod.71) unit: B.R.B.L.85. The carbine is all matching. I had a little bit of downtime today. So I took apart carbine in the photos.
Of course I forgot to take photos of the bolt all broken down. I did notice there's some writing on the stock underneath the barrel. It's a little faded but it looks like this somebody wrote down the serial number on the stock. There is initials on the stock.
Could be some type of bring back but I am not 100% sure. Three years ago my Kar71 was featured on C&Rsenal primer episode 077: German 1871 Jägerbüchse and carbine. Hope you enjoy.

Taking good pictures is more work then many realize.
Not to get too much off topic, but a gamechanger for me was the Olympus Tough TG series of compact cameras. They have a built in "microscope" setting that allows you to get a minimum focal distance of millimeters from the lens! I used it for SCUBA macrophotography of little critters, but it works just as well on land taking macro shots of tiny firearm stamps/proofmarks (much easier to maintain position too!).

That sounds pretty interesting. I'll have to look into that.

Wonderful carbine Michael and thank you for the great pictures. Have two myself and I'll trying to complete the entire set. Of course Chris has already done that! That darn rabbits foot of his in that back pocket.

If you look, most camera's today have a macro setting. Back when SLR's were still a thing, I bought a nice macro lens for this type of work. It worked really well, but honestly, even my old Iphone 4 was better except in extenuating circumstances.

Fantastic rifle, and thanks so much for taking the time to share it. Certainly a rare make!

I modified this rifles details in the research study, linking directly here as the pictures are a real plus when they are done well and appropriate for comparisons.

Excellent post!
