swp45 - how much is original?

Hello everyone,

here is another late K98, made by swp in 1945.
I am interested in your opinions. Probably this is put together from parts? How much do you think is original about this configuration.
(Sorry, I cannot find the bolt right now)

Thanks,
Chris

The stock is off a Steyr rifle and that alone would be desirable to many, but it is in rough shape. The rifle does not belong in the stock, and it looks like the magazine assembly is off a byf44. the barrel bands are not correct either, since an swp45 would be in a kriegsmodell stock with no band spring. The front band IS a correct kreigsmodell, but is probably not the correct style for an swp45 since late in the war the band spring hole was eliminated. Looks to be a total mixmaster but with some good parts on it.

the front sight base appears not to be slotted for a hood, which would be a feature of a much earlier rifle. that may suggest that this one is a replacement.

so, a bnz42 or bnz43 might be a suitable choice?

So it seems the best thing to do is to disassemble this completely and add a late war stock.

interesting. But since I cannot change this, I have to keep it like this.

Thanks for your help.

Yes and while its not 100% correct it seems you have a kriegsmodell stock on your other post.
