The holes are from a sling someone added post war.

Pre98 has a BAD reputation. He will often have nice stuff, but his prices are often very high. But more importantly he has been caught faking and enhancing rifles.

Some real scam artist behaviour.

Floorplate is very suspect. On a byf41 it should have a WaA655 inspection… and that is not Mauser Oberndorf font. The ‘1’ and ‘3’ are stylisticly quite different from the triggerguard serial.

So many say that is he intentionally deceiving?

Most of their inventory comes from flipping gunbroker auctions (which usually are already overpriced). Then they will swap parts and make their stuff “ORIGINAL MATCHING MINT CRISP!!!!!!!” You can easily find their completed auctions. They buy from multiple different accounts.

I have called them out publicly on their socials and even posted screenshots of the before and afters. Surprisingly instead of blocking me immediately they resort to name calling and threats of defamation lawsuits. Then I get blocked. This has happened three times.

As to the font on 3s, here is a depot Byf41 in picture reference thread (below) . The font looks the same. The cc block rifle in picture index thread also has the same font on the floorplate.

But, the flat buttplate in a k block rifle makes me wonder though on the Pre98 rifle posted by the OP.

That reminds me of the Dutch carbine that was a bolt mismatch then they faked it and in there add for it they said "German depot matching" and added a fake depot stamp. There is also the blank spare PP or PPK mag they bought and then added a SS contract serial number to. Then the absolute travesty of the SS Gewehr too K98K conversion that was a legit bolt mismatch that then had more crips 1's added to the front barrel band and the bolt serial number was faked because the bolt was a unnumbered depot spare. A depot spare bolt is stupid hard to find and expensive. That SS Gewehr 98 to K98K conversion really ticked me off.

There is also this travesty. It was a restored piece but was advertised as original.

The receiver was originally drilled for a scope many years ago.
25k...................I coulda gotten a legit SSZZA2 double claw sniper that is a reference rifle used in volume 2b for that money with what they charged for that restored colonial carbine.
