Unknown k98 sight hood ? Need infos

Hi guy’s , got these sight hood in a parts lot recently , they are almost identical in shape/size of a ww2 k98 hood . However they have like a cut or an opening on top of them ? Anyone knows on what rifle they belong ? Appart from a k98 or a m43 never saw a mauser with front sight cut for hood. Any help appreciated thanks

I have seen this style on G/K43 rifles. Not sure the significance. They have been on captured post war refurb guns.

Of course yours looks smaller than a K43 hood. Not sure…

Most likely the reason. There are modern versions of this for Marlins, Winchesters and others, often used in conjunction with a fiber optic front sight.
