Hello mnguy62,

It is what it is: a Volksturm Soldbuch, there isn't much to tell.
He was a 52 year old farmer that lived in a hamlet Klein Gußborn and was a member of the Volksturm unit in his district (Dannenberg), they guarded a section of the Elbe together with 1/Lds Btl 739, there he witnessed the big retreat across the Elbe river.

Cheers,
Peter

PS: they got his name wrong on the "laissez passer", perhaps they used his middle name, just an administrative mistake.

Thanks Peter - very appreciated! Wish these things could talk. If you don't mind could you tell me what "1/Lds Btl 739" was. Thanks again!

Good morning
An old thread, but I find every Volkssturm Soldbuch interesting.
A classic variant 2 of the Volkssturm Soldbuch.
This is a very nice preserved example, meaning the front end cover with the AH photo is still there and not torn out.
At the same time by not tearing out, as so often happened, this photo, pages 13 and 14 are still there possible holding information about his transfer to the Lds Btl... on the other hand the lack of that registration would be no problem
A bit disturbing is that neither the "initial" Volkssturm battalion, nor the company are mentionned on page 2. The battalion commander signed, not seen to often as it was at the companylevel the Soldbuch was handed out.
The lack of a unit stamp as such is no problem.
Most likely the Volkssturm man served "attached" in that Lds Btl and not in a regular VS- unit meaning that he was and remained a member of the Volkssturm.
Enjoy the sunday
Peter
