Waffen SS Snipers

SS snipers

Well unless those are ultra rare double ss decal helmets, the emblems are on the wrong side of the helmets

Double rune helmets are real, and documented in period photos including this one. Note how the runes face backwards instead of forwards.

They seem to show up with the foreign volunteers (I think these guys are Dutch). There are also photos some Finnish SS wearing these helmets floating around somewhere.

Yes, I think the original pic I posted of the two snipers was the germanic volunteer Wiking Division, 5th SS (later renamed 5th SS Panzergrenadiers). They had a lot of volunteers (Finns and Dutch).

Reverse decal helmets were worn by SS Police and some foreign divisions. Those units were simply issued standard police helmets and put SS decals on Police decals. That's why you can find such arrangement on M42 helmets, white regular double decal SS helmets are only M35 and M40's.

Another small but yet unrelated piece of info that may interest some . The Sniper in the 1st pic in prone position is one & the same as Sniper in 2nd pic . Best Regards
