I am interested in knowing more about Israeli K98 snipers. In this post the NRA museum claims that some of the converted Israeli K98s had scopes. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2938202502905377&id=119940478064941&set=a.232289633496691
The date the NRA gives does not really match up too well. The conversion of K98 to 7.62 started I believe in early 1956 and by 1958 the conversion was in full swing.
I know that in 1966 the IDF purchased 499 new production rifles from FN. Consecutive serial number 200232 - 200731. These rifles had unique features and were equipped from the factory with a Wild Herrbrugg 4x scope with matching serial number range and a stock with a cheek riser.
