This is a pretty darn bad fake. SOOO much wrong with the piece and the stamped markings.

This thing is so bad, the seller ought to include a barf bag with every purchase! Panagraphed maker's marking, much too large WaAs, and the metal/finish is pathetic (let alone the poor construction & fitting of components). I don't know if this is one of the reproduction S84/98 T3s which has been enhanced with the markings & then refinished, or a "generation 2" reproduction. Either way, don't think anyone with even a rudimentary familiarization with original examples would be fooled by this repoop.

Oh must I remind you of the Frankenberry SS marked bayonet we saw sell last week lol! Last time I saw it being auction on ebay it was up past $300. Don't know what the final price tag for it was.

I'm hoping someone with some knowledge of bayonets will not be taken by it but I don't know anymore. People have been paying large amounts for junk lately.

Must be something in the water.

Fake

I think this one is still posted on fleabay. I saw it the day it posted. I was amazed how brazenly the seller called out the quality of the proofs. In my early days of collecting, I would send a message to the seller to point out the issues, but I got my head bit off a few times so I just leave it alone now.

Occasionally it goes the other way. I just bought off fleabay a matched 36 S/238. The auction page clearly stated that it was mismatched, but the pictures were just clear enough to show it was matched. It is rough, but worth the $80 I gave for it. If I can get the frog off it, I will sell it and reduce the price even farther.

ruined ePack

I am not sure I like anything about it. The lines along the fuller look polished, the rifle lock does not fit well. I could be convinced it is a reproduction all the way.

I have seen these before.. Complete newly made for the reenactor market. They cost more new than a MM k98 real bayonet so I really doent see the point ????

I just could not help myself but, I had to go find this one on fleabay. I sent this guy a message about this piece of faked crap. No response from him as of yet. I certainly hope no one buys it, but too many uninformed people out there and if it sells it will encourage more of this type of fakery.

Just got a message back from him , says he did not know and "It did look a little polished." He says he changed his add and then offered it to me at an even lower price. Oh my! How can I ever refuse? If he offered to give it to me for free, the only reason I`d take it is to keep some one who did not know any better from getting stuck with it.

Reproduction

The newest series of complete reproduction pieces from China.

Unfortunately, someone will be fooled, and pay money for it. Really puts a drag on the hobby. I stopped collecting helmets because the repros got good enough that they scared me.
