Portuguese K98 new imports

Damn, that's fast. What's the bore like on it? Any pitting under the woodline?
I haven’t had the chance to do anything but tear the bolt down but I almost don’t want to take it out of the wood. Just looks unmessed with and I like that.

A couple of the many photos I took. I haven’t taken it out of the wood and I’m not sure I will, unless given a good reason to do so. The bore is pretty shiny with good rifling but my photos of it aren’t the best. There is cosmoline or a film of it on and through the rifle in every nook and cranny. The screws look untouched and it appears the barreled receiver has either never been out of the wood or it happened so long ago that it appears that way. It’s not the cleanest one out there but given it‘s luck of the draw (much like a CMP 1911), I’m happy. Bayo is non-matching and a bit rough.image1.jpegimage0.jpegIMG_7408.jpegIMG_7427.jpegIMG_7436.jpegIMG_7437.jpegIMG_7446.jpegIMG_7455.jpegIMG_7447.jpegIMG_7463.jpeg

This is interesting to me. Check out the raised letters/numbers on the wood. It is the same as is stamped into the sling. Any ideas? The spacing is different so it’s not contact related

Atlantic just sold out of their second batch in hours. I just saw the Email and they are gone that’s what I get for taking a nap after work.

Checked in the morning before work and nothing, then saw the email after work and oos.

Was interested in one as my family is from Portugal. But what can a working man do when we’re dealing with Ticketmaster sales action.

Is this it, no mas?

Finally got around to photographing mine. It's in pretty nice shape, very minimal pitting under the wood, the inside of the stock was absolutely caked in thick grease, that was a bunch of fun. All matching less the cleaning rod, which I will be on the hunt for. I'm two for two on portuguese mausers that need that silly suffix added to fhe serial but the A is much less atrocious than the PB on the 1941 rifles. Only odd thing to me is the total lack of german proofs on the stock. It could be they were so weakly stamped they wore off but the serial number is quite distinct and the wood isn't in the worst shape either. I wonder if there is any answer to this.

They still have some at Centerfire Systems you can get a bolt Mismatched for half price it might be worth it to have a nice example with that awesome Crest.

I agree the A is much better it still kind of sucks they have to do that make an exception for Historical pieces but that’s how it is. I don’t know about the stock it’s matching the proofs must have worn off. Your rifle looks great how did the crest look?

I'm most likely headed to SoS in February and might take a drive to Centerfire if they still have any left by then. Never liked the dealer's choice gamble and really don't want an added suffix or mismatch.

Here is the photo I got of the crest, it's a little blurry but the finish on the gun and definition of the crest is very nice.
I wish there was another early C block I could compare it to, but I've been unable to find one thus far. It is most likely they just wore off but I've seen way worse stocks with the proofs still visible.

Centerfire still has options at 1500 where you can select a rifle of your choice, condition and serial number, with gun specific photos

Be careful, call first. I bought a "matching" rifle from them and when I received it the stock did NOT match. They proceeded to tell me I agreed to 10 matching serials listed in the ad. I politely replied with the ad states ALL matching, after which they simply stopped replying.
Buyer beware with them.

Are you referring to the centerfire 937B rifles? Because all of those except 1 or 2 from the mosin crate came with mismatched stocks.

Looking for bayo D11780
Have bayo E16620
If anyone needs bayonet E16620 for their matching rifle let me know and we can trade straight up for your bayonet.

We should make a large form of all the needs and haves for bayonets, stocks, and cleaning rods that are mismatched from the new imports. I've seen reddit do it with ak parts kits, we could do it too.
I agree. Even one match would make it worthwhile.
