nice matching byf42

I have had great luck lately. Here is another recent pick up, my 3rd matching byf42. Great shape overall. This one is in the K block and still has external stock serial number and H upper band, two features my T block does not have.

Thats a nice rifle Nathan really like the bluing on that piece. And I guess the old saying goes well for you right now. Three's a crowd!

My byf 42 all-matching early "N" block still has an external stock serial but a solid upper band. The bayonet attachment beneath the band is still beveled so yours must be among the last of the H upper bands. Beautiful rifle!

The extractor is number 30. Is the collar the WaA part on top of the bolt? A few pics. I should definitely know what these stock markings mean...but it escapes me right now. Maker code Bo, made in the 5th day, of the 19th week, in 1942?

Nice ink stamp!

Yeah the collar is the part that holds the extractor to the bolt. It has a small e/? on it I can't make out. Mine is e/54.

Nathan, the front sight on mine is numbered 140 as well, as are the bolt and cocking piece. Bayonet lug appears to be completely unmarked. Barrel is marked 41R50. Overall, my N block appears nearly unissued with almost all of the plum color remaining on the extractor. Until you posted pix, mine is the nicest byf 42 I've seen in a long time.

If anyone is extrapolating production figures from these by date, 132 n has a stock marked Bo 5 26 42. Red paint under the buttplate is at least 95% with a nice shadow left by the Bo and date. The WaA 497 ink stamp is blurry but legible. I suspect that this is the first time the buttplate has been removed.
