Good day. I am looking at doing a trade for a BYF 44 P38 with an original holster. It is numbers matching (except the mag) and is in good original condition with no import marks. It has the black grips. The holster is in good used condition as well , is black and has P38 on the rear with a date of 43. the strap that slides through a buckle is in good shape. It does have a spare mag in the holster as well. I dont have any pics as of yet . I know this isnt much to go on but a value range would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hardshell holsters go for more then the soft. Sounds like you have a hardshell. BYF 44s did not have numbered magazines So no worries there. Id say maybe 800 bucks for the entire rig. Could be more based on condition. Need pictures to really know.

I agree with this. You may be better off parting it out. If the pistol is 85%+ its probably worth $650-700, the spare mag $80 +/-, and the holster could be worth $150-200+ depending on its condition.

There are potential variables to consider. If the pistol is dual tone, the value, from a collector perspective, goes up considerably. Dual tone means blue and phosphate mixed parts. No one mentioned bore condition either.

Thank you for all of the replies. I am going to look at it again in just a bit and will hopefully bring it home. It is going to be a trade for a rifle of mine that I have $550 in so I dont feel I can go wrong.

I think the prices are close but a little low for a run of the mill byf 44. , Like KJ said dual tone ups it or what if it's e/L marked? then prices would be close to triple.

Pics to come later as I am driving but I got it. I was wrong about a few things . It is a Byf 43 with a hard shell holster dated 43 . Red Bakelite grips and all matching . I would put exterior condition as good as well as the bore . I Will post pics later .

No dual tone then. Look forward to photos. Everyone should have a P.38.

Thanks for the reply . The strap is worn but still very strong . The bore is good with no pitting and lots of shine . I'll give her a good cleaning and post better pics . Thanks again.

Is anything stamped on the back spine of the mag? Looking for e/WaA135 to go with the P.38v on the left side.
Your mag may be correct as i block puts in in the production range of August / September 1943
You did well on the deal.
